Tiny Press

Image
This week we went to the Southern Alberta Art Gallery for a demo in the tiny press room. We had the opportunity to make some books of our own which I found super cool as I was able to leave with my two books I am thinking of using one as a junk journal and stamped "Junk" onto the cover. Pumped to see what else I create in this class. :)

Accordion and Altered book update

During the past two weeks I have been working on my mock-up and have come to a design that I am happy with, I also put the light-sensitive emulsion onto my screen so my next step is to oil up my image and expose the screen. I am hoping to get that done this week and begin printing. I have decided on what to do with my altered book assignment. The book I chose is "The Undomestic Goddess" By Sophia Kinsella, a book I once loved and now despise. Due to my despise of the book I have been looking into ways that I could alter the novel in a way that makes it unreadable and had the idea to bake it into a loaf of bread since the main character learns how to cook and bake, I thought it would lend well to the story. I am also an avid baker so it also relates to something I am quite interested in and the idea of incorporating baking into art has been something I have wanted to play with for a while so this would be a great opportunity to do that.

Assignment 1: Postcard

Image
"Holland" 4in x 6in For this assignment, I wanted to utilize collage to create a postcard. I have always loved the tulip fields in Holland so I decided they could make for an interesting composition. I also wanted to include a location that someone may be sending this card from as that is very common with postcards. On the reverse side, I have drawn lines in a standard postcard format on the back of the postcard.
